[Mambo Sam] Certainly we will change topics, per se, and when we are doing something completely new I will put it on the forum. Also, the way we are going so in depth with subjects, I feel that most subjects are going to take us more than one chat session.

[Mambo Sam] Okay, I think we will go ahead and get started. I wanted to address some things from last week that a lot of you e-mailed me about after the chat. The first thing is about burning petitions, etc.
[Mambo Sam] I did address this a tiny bit with an insert in the chat transcript that is now mounted for you to look at.
[Mambo Sam] There seemed to be a lot of confusion and some feeling that if you hadn’t burned petitions/reflections, etc., that you had done something wrong with your spell work.
[Mambo Sam] I did and still do encourage you to not hold on too tightly to those petitions and to let them go out into the universe!
[Mambo Sam] However...
[Mambo Sam] you have not done anything “wrong” by keeping them. But many of you have been working on tough cases for a long time!
[Mambo Sam] My point in all of this is to give you the absolutely best chance to drive these tough (and some not so tough) cases home!
[Mambo Sam] So what we are exploring here are details. Fine tuning.
[Mambo Sam] The truth is that some people have a lot of trouble even just getting through a spell kit.
[Mambo Sam] So not all of what we can do as practitioners is outlined in any kit. It would be too voluminous, just too complicated.
[Mambo Sam] There has to be a balance of having an effective, true spell kit and overwhelming a person. This is especially true when you come to this and you are a complete newbie, a total beginner.
[Mambo Sam] The irony of this is that so many people use the kits, get what they want, and off they go!
[Mambo Sam] The tough cases are the ones that stick around, work harder, and do many more products.
[Mambo Sam] But you are actually the minority!
[Mambo Sam] BUT
[Mambo Sam] you get a huge benefit!
[Mambo Sam] Those of you that have been working on cases for a long time, you have learned so much.
[Mambo Sam] You have come to a new lifestyle, a belief system, something that you can and probably will use for the rest of your life.
[Mambo Sam] I don’t believe that it is a coincidence that the people with the toughest cases end up being the ones with the most knowledge and skill.
[Mambo Sam] So, I answered some of you by e-mail because your questions about burning petitions were germane to your case.
[Mambo Sam] Does anyone still have questions about that whole process?

[Felicissima] I don’t burn my petitions due to privacy constraints, since the smell of fire persists for hours even with the windows open, and my roommate gets suspicious. Can I burn them at another time, not during the actual session?
[CharlieInez] I thought we were supposed to burn them at the end I had NO idea that keeping them was an option. I thought they had to be buried with the candle nubs and things

[Mambo Sam] So, unless you are instructed to do so, then no, you technically do not have to call on him.

[Mambo Sam] If you are actually petitioning another lwa, or doing some kind of adjunct work and you are simply paying him a respectful homage, you don’t have to leave an offering. If you are actually asking him for something other than the opening/closing of the gate, then, yes, an offering is in order.

[Destiny] If my petitions are in with my notes with my readings, and some are misplaced inside books, magazines etc. Can I rewrite my petitions for my next candle session and then burn THEM for the same effect?
[Mambo Sam] Sure. Not a problem at all.
[Mambo Sam] But I do hope that those are your completely private things and your petitions won’t be discovered later.

[CharlieInez] how detailed should the petitions be? is it better to say a short one over and over or a long once only once during the spell time frame for the day
[Mambo Sam] That definitely depends on what you are doing. For instance, in The Reflection of a spell kit you are laying out an entire scenario of what you want to happen, how, when, where, etc.
[Mambo Sam] That is sort of one looooooooooooooooooooong petition.
[Mambo Sam] However, with something such as using a Red Mummy, and, for instance, you are trying to get your HD to contact you, then a shorter, more repetitive petition might be in order.
[Mambo Sam] Repetition, chanting, etc., is an integral part of magick as we had discussed last week.
[Mambo Sam] However...
[Mambo Sam] mindless repetition of something such as a petition to, “call me, call me, call me... ad nauseam” is likely to bore your HD to death.
[Mambo Sam] So there should be a happy medium there. Again, remember the word balance, it is very important in magick.

[Mambo Sam] ad nauseam means, basically, “until one is sick” - it means to go on and on with something until people are sick of hearing about it.

[Mambo Sam] As to the rest of your question, I didn’t mean to imply that there is anything wrong with repetition, quite the opposite - I meant just balance it out, not saying the exact same thing for long periods of time.

[Felicissima] Should we be always petitioning in the 3rd person, or can/should we petition in the 2nd person, addressing directly our HD and/or other people we are working on?
[Mambo Sam] We addressed that quite a bit last week, Felicissima. When you have a chance, take a look at last week’s transcripts, but...

[Mambo Sam] the gist of it is that you want to use your name at least some of the time... and then other times “me” or “I” is fine.

[Mambo Sam] When petitioning your HD directly, I think it is important to say his/her name at least part of the time in the petitioning; much as one might in a conversation.
[Mambo Sam] Sometimes you might refer to someone as “you” or you might use their name.

[Marge] ok, thanks. When you’re talking about mentioning vs. not mentioning the HD’s name, is that for any specific thing or is it for all petitions?
[Mambo Sam] Anything that is directly petitioning your HD to do something.

[Mambo Sam] Like a specific product or usage?
[Marge] Not really but normally I’ve done that specifically for the Love Doll but not for everything else
[Mambo Sam] Yes, the love doll is something that you would definitely want to do that with. But with other things it is helpful, too.
[Marge] I mean I mention my HD’s name but I especially use it a lot with the love doll
[Mambo Sam] We can definitely get into using “him” “her” kinds of phraseology. And, as we had touched on a little bit last week, the longer you have worked on your case, the more Les Lois know exactly who you are talking about!

Mambo Sam] I believe that I may have confused some of you into thinking that you shouldn’t use it when you are doing the love work.

[Mambo Sam] What I meant was that you don’t want to, for instance, as someone had, tie it around the neck of your love doll.
[Mambo Sam] Now, the reason for that was to try to help remove some negativities, etc., from the person and that is certainly a valid thought, but there are much better ways to do that!
[Mambo Sam] Did anyone have specific questions about that?

[Mambo Sam] Keep them separated, if you can. Now I know that some of you, and rightly so, are carrying your bags to work on them throughout the day.

[Mambo Sam] But keeping them separated is a good idea. But here again, this is one of those things that won’t send your spell work into a tail spin if you don’t do it!

[Marge] With the gg bags, can I use them before and/or after doing a spell kit? If so, do I have to wait 45 minutes like with some adjunct work? Not sure if I’m asking correctly...
[Mambo Sam] You can definitely use them before or after. In this case, I don’t really consider them adjunct work exactly, they are a part of the other kits that you did.
[Marge] Let’s say I’m in the 5th day of a spell kit, can I still use gg bags from other kits?
[Mambo Sam] You can use them right before or after. No waiting period.
[Marge] but can I do them even while in the midst of doing another spell kit?
[Marge] No waiting period?

[Mambo Sam] Yes, but you are an extremely experienced Spellmaker spell caster! :-) Some people might get confused doing that. But I don’t have any objection to it.

[Mambo Sam] Did you have something specific in mind that you wanted to combine, RedAngel?
[REDANGEL] say on a red candle on HD, I have been using about three different oils plus the velvet man trap and about two different herbs as well
[Mambo Sam] Too much....
[Mambo Sam] That which comes with the candle is very effective. What two different herbs are you using?
[Mambo Sam] Anyway, it is just a lot, honey.
[REDANGEL] I have been using the love herbs and the love slave and unity
[Mambo Sam] I would stick to using, for instance, just the herbs that came with the candle, perhaps some abre camino mixed with the oil that comes with the candle - and a drop of potion.
[REDANGEL] k, thanks I didn’t want to go overboard but wanted to try to maximize the effects
[Mambo Sam] It’s just a bit much - tone it down just a little bit. There is a tendency sometimes to confuse the person that you are working on.
[REDANGEL] plus I love the smells
[Mambo Sam] Again, nothing horrible about it!
[Mambo Sam] No ill effects are going to come from doing that.
[Mambo Sam] But we want it to be effective.
[Destiny] I hear that using the gg bag after the spells are finished is effective, I think my nephew got into my purse and lost my LMMA gris gris bag and that is the main issue I am having. I thought of redoing LMMA, but my case worker says that is not necessary just for the gris gris bag, I am doing quite a bit of adjunct work, is that okay that I don’t use my LMMA gris gris bag ever (I think it is completely lost) can I use my root bag for LMMA gris gris bag petitions?
[Mambo Sam] You can still use the petitions for LMMA even though you don’t have the bag. Since your High John bag is all purpose, yes, you could do that.

[babycakes] Is there any rule of thumb on which “extra” or left over herbs/oils to use with candles etc, in which circumstances since there are several of both oils/herbs that fall under the same categories (love, repel etc.) so as to avoid overdoing or confusing HD’s?
[Mambo Sam] Definitely you want to stick to the “theme” of what you have. And remember you can use just regular candles that you get from us (the stick candles, not necessarily just figure candles) and refresh those petitions from the spells or products that you have leftovers from. That way you can use up those things without having to mix them too much with new products.
[Mambo Sam] Mainly I would say stick with their original usage to be safe.
[Mambo Sam] Look at it as refreshing or reinforcing those petitions.
[babycakes] Is it okay to combine like oils into the same drams if I have several “halvies”
[Mambo Sam] Not the different oils - some of them do not mix well together, for a number of reasons.

[REDANGEL] how would one use the abre camino oil and what is it best suited to use on
[Mambo Sam] Abre Camino is actually the one oil that you can use with almost any other oil or potion.
[Mambo Sam] It is meant to remove obstacles, clear the way, etc. So, in using it
[Mambo Sam] with something else, you are helping to make a smoother path for the thing you are using.

[rattle shaker] Can a Service, like a cocktail hour or a fet, be considered adjunct work to a spell kit, if it is a service for the lwa you are asking for help from in one of the kits? If so, is it better to have that service at the beginning, end or every day of the spell kit?

[Mambo Sam] It IS a type of adjunct work, that is for sure.
[Mambo Sam] I wouldn’t say that doing it every day is necessary at all. Once a week for good service is fine.
[Mambo Sam] It does help to do these extra things, especially cocktail hours, etc., but it certainly isn’t necessary to do every day. You CAN, of course!
[Mambo Sam] I would do it after the spell kit.
[Mambo Sam] You really want all that oomph to hit the spell kit.

[Mambo Sam] That depends a LOT on what your HD is doing!
[Mambo Sam] And is the reason that most things are done more than once! That is the main reason things are broken up into sessions, so in case we miss getting their attention one or two sessions, we catch up with them later.

[Mambo Sam] As far as doing sessions while a person is asleep; that is a very good time, it allows the energy to flow mostly unimpeded.

[Mambo Sam] But that doesn’t mean everything has to be done when someone is asleep!
[Mambo Sam] But the repetition of doing sessions over and over rather than, for instance, letting the gender candle burn down all in one session, is very important.

[leigh01] ok, you already answered the “what”, is there a specific “how” --- would it be the same words/petitions as in the other magick?
[leigh01] by the “what” I mean, you already explained, use the same products, but get ones specifically for that purpose...
[Mambo Sam] Leigh, that depends on your HD. Depending on the sexual preferences of your HD that would depend a lot on how you word your sex magick petitions. In other words, if your HD is more of a “romantic” in bed, then use those words that you would use during romantic times with them.
[Mambo Sam] If there is more, um, steamy talk, that goes on, then use that. Some people enjoy graphic talk during sex, some do not.
[Mambo Sam] If you know, then use what you know. If you don’t, then use what YOU enjoy.

[paperflwers07] it was my understanding that love doll session start to have an effect on hd in about an hour or so, after you do the work. what about candle work done on an intruder, is it the same kind of time frame, you know so I can make my work more effective, might cause fighting when they might be together if they are going to be anyway, might as well be fighting
[Mambo Sam] Hmmm... the love doll has a tendency to sometimes have an immediate effect on a person, so I am not sure where the hour came from.
[Mambo Sam] But that doesn’t matter.

[Mambo Sam] Anyway, there is no way to know for each individual when they will be affected by adjunct work.
[Mambo Sam] It is a very individual thing depending upon their personality, what they are doing at the time, where they are in processing spell work, etc., etc.
[Mambo Sam] I don’t think we can pin point things that well.
[paperflwers07] I can kinda “feel” that hd is being affected, I hope that doesn’t sound weird, can feel how hard he fights not to give up control
[Mambo Sam] No, it isn’t weird at all -- if you have that kind of intuition with your HD, then you can better judge when to do the work to get the kind of effect that you are looking for. For others, you can word the petitions so as to have a better chance of having them have the effect you are looking for, i.e., “Johnny and Judy will fight the next time they are together.”

This is more pinpoint than “Johnny and Judy will fight every time they are together.” This is a subtle, but important difference. Doing it that way, we do end up doing more work -- because you covered the “next” time... so then you might want to cover the “next” time after that.

I’ve been inclined to sleep with him and talk to him as I fall asleep, if I wake up during the night and when I wake up in the morning (always positive and loving talk). But is it okay to petition for them to just drift apart, feel no attraction, no interest, get progressively indifferent towards each other? It’s just ugly scenarios don’t sit well with me. I start feeling like an intruder myself -

[Mambo Sam] Each person can and should approach things differently, doing what you feel comfortable with is very important. If you try to force yourself into doing things that don’t set well with you, you won’t have a lot of success. However, sometimes it is important to make sure that one completely understands that it is okay to do certain things and WHY it is okay.
[Felicissima] I just have scruples about sending a lot of negativity their way
[Felicissima] I want the relationship to end, but I don’t wish them, including the intruder, any harm
[Felicissima] so I’m trying to make that as painless as possible
[Mambo Sam] Scruples don’t really have anything to do with it. If you have the right to the person you are trying to get, then your whole spell work is based on scruples - that is job one. HOW you approach the happenings of things is one’s personal business. It isn’t bringing “harm” to anyone to have a couple not getting along.
