Chat August 21, 2008

[The3rdwish13] hello!

[Mambo Sam] Hello, class. Good to see you all here. I will take some time before we move on to take some questions, if you have them, about the “trick” and the “result” if anyone is still unclear on that. Then we will move on.

Which of my lovely daughters is keeping the question list tonight?

[sister bridget] Sister C ;-)

[Mambo Sam] Perfect. Thank you! Sister C. Are you ready? :-)

[Sister Candelaria] Yep, I’m ready.

[Mambo Sam] Okay perfect.

[Michaelseraph] Hello everyone

[Mambo Sam] So hopefully most of you received my e-mail about the new class guidelines.

[Michaelseraph] Good evening Mambo Sam

[Mambo Sam] If you have any confusion about the guidelines or have not had a chance to do so, then please click on the link at the top of the screen and go read them. There is a link there that will return you to the chatroom area.

Hello Michaelseraph — welcome, I believe you are a new student. :-)  You may want to take a moment and go read the guidelines for the chat class.

So before we start I do want to go over how we will now take questions and comments in the class. As most of you know, priorly I handled the “list” of people who put their hands up or used a question mark, or whatever you use to ask to be acknowledged. However, that system seemed to be lacking as apparently I was missing people and did not realize it.

So now I will ask that you simply say, “hand up” or use a ? to show that you wish to speak or whatever method you wish to use to show that you have a question or comment. Tonight Sister C. will keep a list and I will ask her to start calling on you as soon as I am ready to take your questions. :-)  I am in hopes that this will keep down the missing of folks who want to speak. Additionally, I do want to say that it is never my intention to miss anyone, and it is never the Sisters intention to miss anyone, but despite rumors to the contrary, we are all still human. ;-)  So if I asked if I missed anyone, don’t just sit there, speak up.

Okay, so now... before we move on in our lessons about Papa Legba, I wanted to just make sure that we have clarification on the usage of Papa Legba as The Trickster. If you are new and haven’t had a chance to read the transcripts, a lot of this might not make sense to you, so please bear with us and definitely read the transcripts when you have time. :-)

So as I said in my note in the last transcript, I felt that there was definitely some misunderstanding on the difference between the trick and the result of the trick. And don’t feel bad if you still aren’t quite getting it. It isn’t a subject that we are going to abandon forever. It is simply that we do need to move on. In fact, speaking of things that we have already done, I do plan sometime in the next few months to do a few “review” nights and go over some of the highlights of things we have done because as new people come on board, they don’t have the chance to ask their own questions that might not be covered in the transcripts. So I think a few review nights will definitely be in order in upcoming months.

[The3rdwish13] ?

[Mambo Sam] Okay! So before we move on to the next aspect of our Papa Legba lessons, any questions? Go ahead and put your hands up so that Sister C. can make a list. We see 3rdwish. Anyone else?

[Michaelseraph] ?

[Sister Candelaria] Go ahead 3rdwish.

[Mambo Sam] Don’t be shy people.

[The3rdwish13] Mambo, there is something I don’t get....... I understand how to write down with him the tricks, results, etc. but... How do we actually ask him to DO it.... Does it make sense?

[Mambo Sam] Do you mean how do you approach Papa Legba?

[The3rdwish13] Meaning the actual “ritual” to ask him to do the trick we wrote. Yes... like when we wrote the petitions with the candle, the water, etc... and then used the petition with the doll, etc...

[Mambo Sam] We will incorporate it into the ritual we will all do together, however, you can interject it into any work that you are doing — candle work, spell kits, dolls, etc., right at the spot where you are going to call on him anyway, if the regular ritual calls for that.

[The3rdwish13] Ohhh ok, it’s for the ritual that we will do together?

[Mambo Sam] Yes, but as I said above, you can interject it into any work that you are doing.

[The3rdwish13] Thank youuuu

[Mambo Sam] Or a cocktail hour. Or even just a cup of coffee with Papa Legba.

[The3rdwish13] I wrote the trick, results, etc today! Very coooollll by the way, but wasn’t sure how to tell him to do it.

[waitingforastar] ?

[Mambo Sam] In some of the classes that you missed, we discussed that you do not have to do a formal ritual, per se, to do this.

[The3rdwish13] I read everything! But was confused. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

[Mambo Sam] But since most ritual involves calling upon Papa Legba, you can just add this to it. :-)

[The3rdwish13] :-)

[Mambo Sam] You are welcome!

[Mambo Sam] And the next contestant is....

[Sister Candelaria] OK, Michaelseraph, go ahead with your question.

[Michaelseraph] thanks Sister Candelaria and Mambo, can you explain the concept of “writing the trick”?

[Mambo Sam] We have already covered that, and it is discussed extensively in the transcripts. :-)  The transcripts are located at

www.spellmaker.com/chatinformation/transcriptindex.htm

[Michaelseraph] ok thanks Mambo

[Mambo Sam] And there are a LOT of them, so don’t get daunted by it. Just work your way through them. Tons of information and welcome to class!! :-)

[Michaelseraph] Thanks so much, it’s a blessing to be here. May I ask one more question?

[Mambo Sam] Yes.

[Michaelseraph] I like the coffee with Papa Legba idea and the cocktail hour, I thought of having a dinner party for all the Loa with Papa Legba beside me and the other Loa in a circle. Is it possible?

[Mambo Sam] Yes, you can. :-)  There are many ways to do that. When you look back through the transcripts you will see that we have done some group rituals and that we also have other ideas for service. There are just a few protocols to observe, such as calling on Papa Legba, of course. And within those transcripts there are different services to different Lwa and lists of the foods that they like and colors, and such.

[Michaelseraph] All this is so new and so fascinating to me, thanks for the info Mambo.

[Mambo Sam] However, just about ANY service that is done with a good heart is more than acceptable. So don’t get too, too caught up in the details.... All of those details come with the learning portion of things, but your heart is your heart and that which do from there will be readily accepted and appreciated. Good to have you aboard! You are welcome, Michael.

[Michaelseraph] Ok thanks Mambo. I’m honored to be with you here and everyone.

[Mambo Sam] :-)

[pamunkeyjo] ?

[Mambo Sam] And the next victim, Sister C.?

[Sister Candelaria] Alright WFAS, go ahead honey.

[newtospells] ?

[waitingforastar] So it should always be within a ritual type setting such as spell, doll, candle work and never just call on him without doing some kind of work, another words say in the middle of your day you think to ask him to do a trick, you shouldn’t just up and call him and ask him right there without doing some kind of ritual or work?

[Mambo Sam] Okay, WFAS, no, you don’t have to do a whole ritual nor do you have to do adjunct work. You can interject the request into adjunct work or work it into a ritual. I didn’t cover too much about how to ask Papa all of this simply because I wanted to make sure that everyone got the actual concept first. Just as with all requests to the Lwa, you will want to make the request clear. And do something to make sure you are at least paying attention to what you want at that time.

I would not recommend just sitting at a red light and going, “oh Papa, here’s the trick, and what I want to happen.” You do need to take a few minutes, at least... and call on him. Then ask him for what you want. And a small offering would be in order, of course. I will teach you all more about how to put this into an actual ritual.

[Sunshine] Hand up

[waitingforastar] So we should call for a few minutes? And an offering sometime afterwards?

[Mambo Sam] But for other small requests, yes, you can just ask “off the cuff.” as we have talked about before, the better your relationship with a particular Lwa, the more you will find yourself just conversing with them. :-)  It will also have to do with WHAT you are asking for Papa to do and what you want the result to be.

[waitingforastar] Smaller requests meaning something simpler than a trick?

[Mambo Sam] If you are just asking for something extremely simple, then you may not need to do a lot of preparation and you don’t  need to get too complicated. But the harder your request, the more you need to pay attention to how you are asking and what you are doing to get this to happen. Even though the Lwa are not “human” in the conventional sense, they do still have a sense of when they are being taken advantage of vs. when they are being honored and doing something nice in return. Make sense, WFAS?

[waitingforastar] Yes, you want to give him propers and not just say yo Papa do this for me :-D

[Mambo Sam] Yes I do.... And so does he. ;-)

[waitingforastar] Which of course, I would never do.

[Mambo Sam] :-D  I know, but sometimes it is kind of okay... I do it all the time to get a darned parking spot. ;-)

[waitingforastar] :-D

[Mambo Sam] But I honor him so much every single day with spell work, that I am in a pretty good position to call in a few small favors. ;-)

[waitingforastar] ;-)

[Mambo Sam] So all kidding aside, that is not a bad thing to remember... If you are someone who does a lot of service and rituals and spell work, etc., you are positioning yourself to have some pretty good spiritual friends. Which means when you need that sort of “911” help you don’t need to go through a lot of formal ritual to get some help — you will have already established a good relationship with many Lwa and, therefore, can have a lot more leeway as to what you are asking for.

[Michaelseraph] ?

[waitingforastar] Good to know. Thank you so much xoxo. I do like to talk to him often though.

[Mambo Sam] I mean obviously that all happens over time.... but with many of you here you have been doing spell work for a long time and you have built a lot of relationships that you may not be taking full advantage of and we can definitely talk about that in another class. ;-)

You are welcome, WFAS, and of all the Lwa, talking to Papa Legba is always a good thing! I know I have poured my heart out to him on many, many occasions.

[Mambo Sam] Okay, who is next, Sister C.?

[Sister Candelaria] OK, Pamunkeyjo... Your turn.

[pamunkeyjo] Is it possible to get Papa’s attention by doing some celebration for children? Like candy?

[Mambo Sam] Yes, definitely.

[redrose] ?

[pamunkeyjo] Would it have to be like a party?

[Mambo Sam] There is definitely that child like aspect of Papa Legba that can be called upon and offerings such as candy, small toys (he loves whistles, by the way, and I have found him to have a great fondness for yo-yo’s — can’t keep them on my altar, they disappear), things of that nature are really good offerings. So it does not have to be like a whole party. However, a very good “ritual” for Papa Legba is to go to something like a Dollar Store or Target or whatever you have in your town and buy those really cheap packs of birthday party decorations. They will have hats and noisemakers and plates, stuff like that. And then either make a small birthday cake or even buy just cupcakes... Set it up like a little birthday party and offer it to Papa. Because he is both “forever young” and “forever old” he loves those kinds of things.

[pamunkeyjo] Wow. Ok, thanks. I was wondering about that child part for those of us superadults.

[Mambo Sam] I mean, you can do it really on the cheap. I mean I have done it for less than $10.00 before. :-)  And you can keep most of the decorations, etc., and reuse them. :-)

[pamunkeyjo] Good, I’m cheap. Sorry but true!

[Mambo Sam] :-D — these days we all have to be, don’t we??? $5.00 for a gallon of milk, puhleeze. Anyway... I think I mentioned in one of the transcripts that the actual initiation in Santeria for Papa Legba involves like a children’s birthday party. :-)  So, yes, definitely those types of things are a big hit. :-)

My darned keyboard is sticking. I spilled Kool-Aid on it the other day. Three grandkids and they don’t spill a drop, but I spill half a glass. Anyway...

[pamunkeyjo] :-)

[Mambo Sam] Thank you Pamunkeyjo! Did that answer it for you?

[pamunkeyjo] Yes. Thanks and a few ideas to add to that!

[Mambo Sam] :-)

[Mambo Sam] Who’s next on the hit list, Sister C.?

[Sister Candelaria] Next up is Newtospells. What’s your question for da Mambo Lady?

[newtospells] This is long, sorry, and we are doing dual castings right now. Just today I was at a red light in downtown (City) and I noticed an old man with a cane walking a dog, that looked exactly like my dog that died about a month ago, on the crosswalk in front of me. This morning I asked Papa if I could have any sign that the Lwa are helping me with my case (which I do often) and I left a coconut candy and cup of coffee on my table this morning when I left for class. When the light turned green he was gone, this couldn’t be my imagination as I know he was there plain as day. What do you think?

[Mambo Sam] :-)

[newtospells] Sorry, that was long

[Mambo Sam] You know, it is a funny thing..... I think clients tell me of more “visual” manifestations of Papa Legba than anyone else! :-)

[newtospells] I think I have had more than this one.

[Mambo Sam] And it happens to me, too... I will see an old man with a cane.... And a dog.... Or a straw bag and a dog... :-)  I always, always, always take it as a sign that he wants us to know that he has heard us and that he is with us and that he is working on our behalf.

[newtospells] That is very good to know. It was an amazing sight I do have to say, especially with my Saint Bernard that recently died.

[Mambo Sam] I mean not that he doesn’t just want to say “hi,” but honestly that kind of physical manifestation takes an extraordinary amount of strength for a Lwa and so I have come over the years to believe that when we see Papa, it is an extremely strong sign that he is around us and wants us to know that for a specific reason — such as you asking for a sign and/or letting you know that he is on the job and wants you to know that. Not that this necessarily applies to you, but in general, sometimes I have found that he will show up often when faith might be flagging or we are feeling down about our case, something like that. So I think, to answer your question, he definitely had something to show you. :-)

[newtospells] Well, he has been providing for me lately I can say that much, and it is a good feeling. That’s awesome! Thanks Mambo

[Mambo Sam] You are welcome. :-)

[Mambo Sam] Before we go on Sister C., may I ask, did we miss anyone yet? Please let us know if we did.

[Michaelseraph] ?

[Mambo Sam] I want to try very hard not to miss anyone who has their hand up. Did we miss you, Michael? I am sorry. We are using a new system and trying to break it in. ;-)  Or were you just putting your hand up to be put on the list?

[Michaelseraph] Thank you Mambo not a problem... When I was Wiccan I made up my own spells and rituals, is that permissible in New Orleans Voodoo?

[Mambo Sam] Yes, definitely... when you look back in the transcripts, you will see that I have encouraged our more “seasoned” clients to begin to put things together and start to strike out on their own with their spell work. I do recommend that you learn first and stick to the rituals that I have written and/or whatever products you are using to begin. Nothing terrible is going to happen if you write or do a not-quite-correct spell, but there is no point in wasting your time and getting no result from it because it was wrong. ;-)  But the short answer is yes, within certain protocols. :-)  Thank you!

[Mambo Sam] Okay, Sister C., back to the list, sweetheart!

[Sister Candelaria] OK MaMere, next up we have Sunshine. Sunshine go ahead, honey.

[Sunshine] I am a little confused with your answer to WFAS— do you mean we need to specifically set aside time for Papa and not just a spur of the moment when we ask him to do something/trick? What if we converse with him on a regular basis? Is it necessary then for the ritual?

[Mambo Sam] Depends on the trick/result... ;-)

[Sunshine] I know this was way back— but I was waiting.

[Sister Candelaria] :-)

[Mambo Sam] And you are in a particularly good spot with dear Papa! :-D  So, you may have much more leeway than someone else. But just a good rule of thumb is simply to sort of configure your “ritual” or time spent on the subject to the complexity of what you are asking for. The “trick” can be elaborate or simple. If it is elaborate and the result is going to be hopefully monumental, then I would say at least a little cup of coffee might be in order. ;-)  Or a quick candle.

[Happy] ?

[Sunshine] Thank you and we do have our daily morning coffee and our coffeeklach.

[Mambo Sam] :-)  And that is a perfect time to discuss a trick that you have come up with. :-)

[Montana] ?

[Mambo Sam] I think you have it down just fine, Sunshine. ;-)  You know how much he looooooooooooooooves you! :-)  Anything else, honey?

[Sunshine] Can I make one more comment?

[Mambo Sam] Yes, of course.

[Sunshine] Lately when I ask Papa to open the gate— I can actually see him open this enormous metal wrought iron gate.

[Mambo Sam] :-)  Yep... that is a clear manifestation of “the gate.” It is different for different people, but that is a very common one and a good visualization. :-)  Thank you! Anything else?

[Sunshine] No, thank you Mambo....

[Mambo Sam] :-)

[Mambo Sam] Who’s next, Sister C.?

[Sister Candelaria] Alrightie! Our next contestant is Redrose. Redrose, you’re up!

[redrose] Hi, I am in the waiting period and I am new to spells, I just finished my love trio.

[Mambo Sam] Congratulations!

[redrose] And I would like to continue my communication with Papa Legba

[Michaelseraph] ?

[Mambo Sam] Oh yes, of course!

[redrose] I did not have signs like other people, but I need Papa Legba to help me trick my HD’s mind.

[Mambo Sam] Not everyone gets signs, sweetie.... Some people go years without ever having seen a thing. :-)

[redrose] I would like him to forget out last argument...

[Mambo Sam] Yes.

[redrose] Or at least being able to understand my side of the story

[Mambo Sam] :-)

[redrose] How could I approach Papa to help me?

[Mambo Sam] First, may I ask, have you had a chance to read the transcripts?

[redrose] I went to the website but I found old ones. So I apologize if you already mentioned it... I haven’t being able to find more recent ones.

[Mambo Sam] Okay, I just put them all up yesterday, so you definitely can find them at that link I mentioned above:

www.spellmaker.com/chatinformation/transcriptindex.htm

Your question is very case specific, but I do want to answer at least part of it.

[newtospells] ?

[Mambo Sam] But first, it would be good to read the transcripts so that you get a clear understanding and I think you will know the answer to your own question. ;-)  However, I do want to mention for everyone, that if there is something like Redrose is mentioning in your case, you probably will still need to do, for instance, white candle magick or something like that in addition to just petitioning Papa to help you. The reason is sometimes these things, such as bad arguments, can leave such a negative imprint that we often need a lot of help.

Also, Redrose, you can ask your caseworker to help you with this, too. She may be able to help you figure out what is the best approach by getting more history of the situation. And spending some time helping you with the actual usage of what we are learning. :-)

So I know that didn’t exactly answer your question, but if you still have it after you read the transcripts, your caseworker can help you. :-)

[redrose] I will... It’s just the waiting period is really hard and the trio (especially the first spell LMMA) took a lot of energy and I am waiting and waiting...

[Mambo Sam] Yes, everyone’s waiting period is hard.... Just no way around that. But it does help to come and learn and get new ideas. :-) That is what we are here for.

[redrose] I tried contact him and I am afraid he could get a restraining order. :-(

[The3rdwish13] ?

[Mambo Sam] Aw... well... unfortunately, we can’t discuss individual cases here in class, but definitely please do talk to your caseworker, honey.

[redrose] He already got a new answering machine. :-(

[Mambo Sam] Who is your caseworker, sweetie?

[redrose] Frankie

[Mambo Sam] Okay, I want you to switch. I love Frankie, she has been around forever, but her life has taken a wonderful turn that may keep her from casework.

[redrose] I know I am taking a lot of time... sorry about that

[Mambo Sam] :-)

[redrose] yes... I agree

[Mambo Sam] I would like for you to write to me at ReverendCorfield@aol.com and give me your name (not here, please) and I will switch caseworkers for you, okay? Just send me an e-mail, honey.

[redrose] Will do

[Mambo Sam] In fact, anyone who has Frankie for their caseworker, please do the same. Let’s just say that Frankie’s spell work worked in a really big way! :-)  And so I may be switching a lot of her clients. It’s a good thing! But her time is really constrained now.

[newtospells] very good thing!

[Mambo Sam] Okay, so please do that Redrose. :-)

[redrose] Thank you, will do. :-)

[Mambo Sam] :-)

[Mambo Sam] Who is next, Sister C.?

[Sister Candelaria] OK, Montana is next. Montana, honey?

[Montana] Never mind, Mambo Sam answered it above when she said you know how much he LOOOOOOVVESSS you....... Even though it was about a different HD..... It works for me too *winks* (How positive was that :-)  *giggles*

[Mambo Sam] :-D

[Montana] :-D  Well, okay, and good to see you, Montana!

[Mambo Sam] I guess we are moving along, Sister C.

[Montana] ;-)

[Sister Candelaria] OK, Michaelseraph, come on down... :-D  You’re next.

[Michaelseraph] Thank you Mambo, I didn’t have a question I just wanted to apologize I was disconnected while you were teaching, no disrespect was intended.. I have internet gremlins tonite :-D

[Mambo Sam] :-D  :-D  :-D  It happens to all of us... and sometimes to me where I cannot stay on here and that gets really aggravating. But no problem, honey. Thank you! :-)

[Michaelseraph] You’re welcome. I’ll mention it to Papa Legba :-)

[Mambo Sam] :-)

[Mambo Sam] Who’s next, lovely daughter??

[Sister Candelaria] So did we miss anyone before MaMere goes on? If not, then that’s it, MaMa.

[Happy] Me

[Sister Candelaria] OH, Happy. Go ahead, honey!

[Mambo Sam] Oh little Happy.....

[The3rdwish13] me

[Happy] You sure?

[Mambo Sam] And 3rdwish... Sorry, gals, we will get this new system down. :-)

[Sister Candelaria] Yes, sorry. I must have blinked.

[The3rdwish13] no worries!

[Happy] ok I hope this is not stupid question. My hd has been missing again for two months so I wanted to do that trick we discussed last week. I did it last night but was really nervous.

[Mambo Sam] :-D — oh I forgot to tell you about the no blinking rule. Sister B. get your toothpicks ready for next week.

[Happy] Funny since who my Met Tet is.

[Mambo Sam] :-)

[newtospells] LOL!

[sister bridget] ;-)

[Happy] But how many times can you do the same trick and how often? I really want this trick for those keys :-D

[Mambo Sam] Were you nervous about asking or about the potential outcome?

[Happy] not sure

[Mambo Sam] So just sort of an overall anxiety?

[Happy] I kept feeling like a stupid little girl.

[Mambo Sam] Aw....

[Happy] I am not good with petitions anyway, so I felt I was saying it wrong.

[Mambo Sam] Now without getting too personal, you KNOW where that is coming from and those people are wrong about you, honey. Don’t make me come and get you. ;-)

[Happy] huh? ohhh! duh

[Mambo Sam] You feel like a stupid little girl because... Oh you got it. :-)  :-D

[Happy] :-D  sorry, things have been bad.

[Mambo Sam] Just push all of that out of your head and know that Papa loves you so dearly and you can even ask him to hold you in his arms and comfort you while you talk to him. He is so very loving and caring. I just want to share something real quick...

[Happy] I know he keeps my life easy with this nasty chick at work.

[Mambo Sam] I don’t mean to interrupt but I think it will help you.

One time a long time ago when I was a child (yes that long ago) I had a dream that Jesus was holding me in his arms and stroking my hair telling me that everything was going to be all right (I had a lot of childhood trauma). The night I took my first initiation, I had that dream again, only it was Papa Legba doing the same thing. It was the most gentle hands that you could imagine, but strong. :-)

[newtospells] wow!

[nubis] comment

[Mambo Sam] So what I am saying is that he will lift you up, Happy. :-)  He will hold you.

[Happy] He did today — I was upset about finances and he distracted me.

[Mambo Sam] Don’t be nervous and afraid, just go to him and hold your arms out and let him catch you. :-)

So try again with the trick, and don’t be nervous. You are not a stupid little girl and you are one of the kindest people I have ever known. So don’t be afraid. :-)

[newtospells] That just enlightened me Mambo, thanks!

[Happy] Can I ask something to add to this?

[Mambo Sam] Yes, of course.

[Happy] I did the Ogoun ritual and the tying of the head helped me. Can you tie your head other times or just rituals?

[Mambo Sam] Anytime! Tying of your head creates a sacred space and also is protective, too.

[Happy] Any particular color or white is the best route? That is what I need so outside thoughts stay outside.

[Mambo Sam] White is always good, but other colors if you are doing something in particular that dictates another color. But white is always just so good for what you are mentioning. :-)

[Happy] I am so happy and thank you for always being there and loving me

[Mambo Sam] :-)  You are welcome. And thanks for loving me!!! ;-)

[Mambo Sam] Okay, beautiful non-blinking daughter, who is next?

[Sister Candelaria] OK, so 3rdwish. Sweetie, go ahead.

[The3rdwish13] This may be a silly question, but I couldn’t find the answer... How does Papa like his coffee? I ask because I used to give it to him dark with no sugar and today it bothered me to give it to him like that..... So I put sugar, and after getting my finger stuck in the little bar where I keep the bottles (for company of course) I put some rum too. ;-)

[Mambo Sam] Black with lots of sugar. :-). Strong. And let me just say that a shot of rum is never a bad thing. ;-)

[The3rdwish13] Thank YOU... I thought so! My finger still hurts....

[Mambo Sam] Aw.... sorry, baby.

[alilem] ?

[Mambo Sam] You can’t go wrong with a shot of rum in the coffee.

[The3rdwish13] hehehehe. Just kidding

[Mambo Sam] I will kiss it at the convention. ;-)

[The3rdwish13] YESSSSSSSS

[Mambo Sam] :-)

[The3rdwish13] Thank Mambo

[Mambo Sam] You are welcome.

[Mambo Sam] Who is next, Sister C.?

[Sister Candelaria] (my eyes are drying out)... Nubis is next. Nubis, COME ON DOWN!

[nubis] Thank you Mambo, for sharing your dreams about Papa Legba and Jesus. Have been having dreams lately about an old man, talking to me and comforting me. I figure it’s Papa Legba!

[Mambo Sam] Probably so. ;-)

[nubis] Thank you.

[Mambo Sam] You are welcome. I have always felt very close to Jesus... maybe it is my Catholic upbringing, but that never changed.

[nubis] And you can always go to Mass. Peace be with you. :-)

[Mambo Sam] :-D  :-D  :-D — okay, little inside joke there, folks.

[Michaelseraph] ?

[Mambo Sam] My “excuse” for not going to Mass is that I don’t like the hand shaking and “peace be with you” deal. :-D  But I always feel close to Jesus and Mother Mary.

[nubis] Just be like me and use your antibacterial afterward!

[Mambo Sam] :-D  Yeah.... I guess.... :-)

[newtospells] I don’t know anything about mother Mary... I was raised Mormon. 8-o

[Mambo Sam] And I do want to mention, because even though we have said it before and it is on the website, if you have a particular religion, and you do practice it, you definitely should continue because all true spiritual paths are good ones. We just “add” to it as we go along with this.

[Mambo Sam] Okay, who is next?

[Sister Candelaria] Okie dokie...next we have Alilem. Go ahead, honey. Step right up!

[pamunkeyjo] comment?

[alilem] Please list the site again to obtain the past transcripts for the chat classes.

[Mambo Sam] www.spellmaker.com/chatinformation/transcriptindex.htm

[alilem] thanks

[Mambo Sam] You are welcome... um, I hope I have that right. Simone, is that right? Well, I think that is right. I did put it in the e-mails I have sent out. Are you getting the class e-mails, Alilem?

[alilem] My e-mails are blocked with hotmails

[Mambo Sam] You can put us on your safe list so that you can get the e-mails.

[alilem] I will look them up on the site you provided. Again thanks I will put you on the safe list.

[Mambo Sam] But I believe that is right, Sister B., do you know if I have that link correct? Since I gave it out three times... hopefully I have it right!  :-D

[Montana] comment (yes its right) *winks*

[sister bridget] yes, it works

[Mambo Sam] Okay, thank you both! :-)  It’s funny, when I work with the pages I don’t really work with the URL, so I have to look them up sometimes.

[Mambo Sam] Okay, anyway.... Was someone next, Sister C.?

[Sister Candelaria] OK, Michaelseraph... You’re up. :-)

[Michaelseraph] Thank you Mambo and Sister C .. What is the procedure if one is interested in becoming Hounsis?

[Mambo Sam] Hounsis are beginning initiates in the Haitian Vodou religion. In New Orleans Voodoo, we have Novitiates. For instance, Aleck and Aidan on chat are the current Novitiates — those working towards becoming initiates in our family New Orleans Voodoo tradition.

[Michaelseraph] Must one be chosen as noviatiate or can one request it?

[Mambo Sam] Before that, Sister Bridget and Sister Candelaria were Novitiates. Yes and yes. :-)

[Michaelseraph] thank you Mambo :-)

[Mambo Sam] You can ask, but generally you will have had to be around awhile and we need to know you just a tiny bit. ;-)

[Michaelseraph] right you are :-)

[Mambo Sam] It isn’t something that we charge for unlike in the Haitian Vodou where you have to pay for an initiation. Here we ask you to serve the House through some kind of work — such as being a caseworker, or other type of work. So it means that one needs to be around a little bit. ;-)

[Michaelseraph] that’s good to know.

[Mambo Sam] And this is for everyone: Letting us know that you are interested in seeking that path is certainly the first step on the path! :-)

[Michaelseraph] I am definitely interested

[newtospells] me too!

[Mambo Sam] And it allows us to have a chance to get to know you and try to help you find your place in the House. :-)

[Michaelseraph] This is an incredible place.

[Mambo Sam] The Sisters are in charge of Novitiates, so all you need do to let us know is to write to one of them. And we will then start to see what you need to do to get on your correct path. :-)  Being a Novitiate is not a guarantee of initiation, but it is the first step that all must take who wish to join our family. :-)

[Michaelseraph] I am speechless. :-)

[Mambo Sam] Aw... :-)

[Michaelseraph] Well I humbly present myself for your consideration, Mambo.

[Mambo Sam] Absolutely. I will have one of the Sisters contact you. :-)

[Michaelseraph] bowing to Mambo.

[Mambo Sam] :-)

[newtospells] ?

[Michaelseraph] Thank you that’s all the questions I have.

[Mambo Sam] Absolutely any of you can be considered for initiation... I don’t usually ask unless I know you quite well. But that shouldn’t stop YOU from asking because, well, then I can get to know you quite well. ;-)  Like I said, being a Novitiate doesn’t guarantee initiation and it is a bit of a long road. We don’t do “pop culture” initiations that are so popular these days. You are being brought into a bloodline, so it does take some work, and some learning, and some responsibilities.

[Michaelseraph] Yes anything this profound has to have a vision quest as it were.

[Mambo Sam] Yep, that is exactly right.

[Sister Candelaria] I’ve been at this for I think eight years. It’s been a long, but extremely rewarding road.

[Mambo Sam] And even if I know you well, I might not ask, because sometimes it is YOU who must seek this path and I don’t like too much to put people in the position of telling me, “no thank you” because you then feel uncomfortable and like you may have hurt my feelings, so it is fairly rare that I ask. :-)

[Michaelseraph] I have wanted to serve in Wicca, the Catholic church, etc and seemed that I was always passed over.

[Mambo Sam] I will have someone contact you, honey.

[Michaelseraph] Thank you dear Lady.

[Mambo Sam] Okay, sorry, I didn’t realize it is getting late!!!! And who else up there, said, “me, too”, was that Newtospells? You are welcome, Michael.

[Sister Candelaria] OK, Pamunkeyjo is next.

[newtospells] yeah it was me

[Sister Candelaria] oops, sorry, MaMa.

[Mambo Sam] Okay, ditto.... Write to one of the Sisters, or I can have them contact you. (That’s okay, daughter.) :-)

[newtospells] ok

[Mambo Sam] :-)  Okay, now, Sister C.

[Sister Candelaria] Alright... NOW, Pamunkeyjo?

[pamunkeyjo] The Mormon church has never formally acknowledged Mother God but one of the hymns ‘I am a child of God’ talks about Mother. I don’t think there is Papa Legba, however.

[alilem] ?

[Mambo Sam] Right, in many religions there is a “gatekeeper” type figure, but I don’t know of one in the Mormon religion.... Although I have often thought that John Smith was perhaps the “gatekeeper” of the religion in a way... sort of the ancestor to all Mormons in a way....

[pamunkeyjo] I’d check out some of those angels, they look fierce!

[Mambo Sam] Oh, we do have to talk about angels again one night... some of them are fierce.

[newtospells] The Mormon church has no official gate keeper, I know this because I was a priest in the church

[Mambo Sam] No, I know they do not have a gatekeeper that is practiced within the religion.

[newtospells] :-)  yes

[Mambo Sam] However, sometimes we look to different figures in religion to correlate with what we are doing. And, everyone, please, hands up to speak, please. :-)

[newtospells] ?

[Mambo Sam] Take turns, my darlings, take turns. ;-)

[pamunkeyjo] Hmmm. How does on go about finding a gatekeeper?

[Mambo Sam] Papa Legba is THE gatekeeper. For us, he is the only gatekeeper. However, in some other religions, there are sometimes gatekeeper figures.

[alilem] Mambo I am new to this and I have been reading and studying everything and taking notes on all the information I can gather about the Lwa and your rituals and your site. Please be patient with me if I ask questions to obtain information I am unsure of. I do wish to continue with the knowledge I have obtained thus far. For the past 3-4 months I have truly found peace.

[alilem] I am so sorry

[Mambo Sam] Hit that send button, huh? :-D  It’s okay, just put it up again when it is your turn. :-)

[alilem] yes

[Mambo Sam] So do you understand, Pamunkeyjo?

[pamunkeyjo] That simplifies things to not have to find a gatekeeper. Yes!

[Mambo Sam] Papa is always our gatekeeper.

[Mambo Sam] Okay, so we need to move along, who was next Sister C.?

[Sister Candelaria] OK, Montana? Did you have a question or was your comment about the link working what you wanted to say?

[Montana] It was on the link :-)  sorry didn’t mean to step on toes :-)

[Sister Candelaria] OK, then it’s Newtospells and then Alilem. Newtospells? going once... heehee

[newtospells] Ok, I was wondering about, since I had seen Papa Legba with my dog that died, should I put out some dog treats as offerings, even for the other dogs that he has? Not just my own

[Mambo Sam] :-)  You can definitely put dog treats out as an offering... and I think that would be extremely nice and a good offering.

[newtospells] That is very good news! I love dogs. ha ha

[Mambo Sam] :-)  Awesome.

[Michaelseraph] ?

[newtospells] Ok, thank you again. I am done. God bless Mambo

[Mambo Sam] :-)  You are welcome.

[Sister Candelaria] OK, Alilem. Now hit that send key, baby! ;-)

[alilem] Please do not put my name up in red. I am just like everyone else. I am here to learn and do the right thing. I so enjoy the new found calmness and recovered from many of the obstacles that Papa and the Lwa have brought forth during my spell work with your dual work.

[Mambo Sam] :-)  Awesome... though I am not sure why you came up in red.... I didn’t do it. :-)  Maybe it was Papa, he loves red! I am so glad you are here and learning so much, Ali.... It is great to have you here and see your progress.

[pamunkeyjo] !!!!

[The3rdwish13] jsjsjebffjuhshsuskuuuuuuuuuummmjnjnnjg

[Mambo Sam] She fell asleep on the keyboard.

[Sunshine] ?

[The3rdwish13] seba seba seba

[Mambo Sam] Okay just a couple of more questions and then I will tell you a bit about next week since we didn’t get to it tonight. :-)  Who is next, Sister C.

[The3rdwish13] Oh God I’m sorryyyy...... I got up for a minute and my son left you a message (yes he’s up) SORRRY

[Mambo Sam] :-D

[Sister Candelaria] Alright Michael and then I’m sorry, but I’m going to have to cut us off there. MaMere has to go soon.

[Michaelseraph] Thank you Sister C. and Mambo, no problem. :-)

[Mambo Sam] Michael and Sunshine, too.

[Sister Candelaria] I’m taking matters into my own hands. :-D

[Mambo Sam] Then that’s it, unless we missed someone up there!!!!

[Sister Candelaria] Oh sorry, did I miss Sunshine?

[Mambo Sam] Yep.

[Sister Candelaria] Yes, if I missed anyone speak up, but no new questions, was what I mean. :-)

[Mambo Sam] So Michael, then Sunshine, and anyone we may have missed, please let us know, okay?

[pamunkeyjo] !

[Mambo Sam] Pamunkeyjo, is that your hand up, honey?

[Michaelseraph] Ok I don’t want to hold up your sleep Mambo but I noticed in Rada there is a light aspect and in Petro a dark aspect of the Loa.. Can you explain (just a short tidbit)?

[pamunkeyjo] Are Native Americans in red or is it because I am rada that I am red?

[Mambo Sam] Not tonight, sweetie, and it is already in the transcripts a bit. Petro is not actually a “dark” aspect of the Lwa... that is a misconception. It is the HOT aspect of the Lwa. Rada is the cool aspect. ;-)

[Mambo Sam] But I covered it somewhere! :-D

[Sister Candelaria] Check the early transcripts, Michael. You will find your answer there.

[Michaelseraph] thanks again Ladies

[Mambo Sam] :-)

[Sister Candelaria] :-)

[Mambo Sam] Sunshine?

[alilem] everytime you call my name it is singled out in red. Or if I accidentally go out of turn my name is red. Oh well. Let’s get on with the lesson and be grateful that we are here and loved by all. Love to you Mambo and your staff. They have been kind and patient with me. Especially Berkeley. Good Night.

[Sister Candelaria] Your name will appear in red to YOU, but not to us. It’s just how the software works.

[Mambo Sam] :-)

[Michaelseraph] I saw it red too! It’s Papa. :-)

[Sister Candelaria] It is to draw your attention to it, so you know you were called on.

[Mambo Sam] Thank you, Ali.

[alilem] Thanks, good to know. Love to you...

[Mambo Sam] Okay, please, we need to stay organized, folks.

[Sunshine] Since Papa definitely is associated with dogs, which Lwa would be associated with cats— if Any? My cat always hangs around with me and Papa. Also just wanted to say that WE love you Mambo....

[Mambo Sam] :-)  Love you, too. Erzulie loves the kitties. ;-)

[Sunshine] Thanks— I sort of figured that also.

[Mambo Sam] ;-)

[simonegreenewpp] Which Erzulie?

[Mambo Sam] Freda.

[simonegreenewpp] Thank you!

[Mambo Sam] Dantor eats the kitties, so she loves them, too. :-D  I am JUST KIDDING.

[newtospells] LOL!

[simonegreenewpp] SNORT!!!

[Sister Candelaria] :-D  I was just thinking that, MaMa!

[Mambo Sam] She does not eat kitties. ;-)  Just a little Voodoo humor. Tee hee.

[newtospells] That’s hilarious

[Sister Candelaria] No, she loves the kiddies.

[Sunshine] Too much.:}

[Mambo Sam] Yes, the kiddies are tender and juicy. Okay... anyway....

[Sister Candelaria] mmmmm... kiddies.

[newtospells] You are making me laugh that’s a good thing

[Mambo Sam] So just for a moment, next week... :-D  We will talk about Papa Legba’s older aspect and how

[Mambo Sam] to petition him, etc. :-)

[newtospells] How he is old?

[Mambo Sam] I can’t take any more questions tonight. And hands up, folks, pretty please. But just for the record, he is ancient. He has been around thousands of years. ;-)

[newtospells] :-)

[Sister Candelaria] OK, folks. MaMere needs to call it night.

[newtospells] Thank you so much, amazing experience

[Mambo Sam] Okay, let’s do our prayers, folks, don’t leave just yet. Unless you need to. I am going to keep it brief.... When I say so, you can put your own prayer petitions up. No personal names, please. And for THIS you don’t have to put your hand up once I say it is okay to go. But me first, I am the Mambo, I get to go first. :-)  Okay, so I will keep it brief...

We ask that all who are seeking this path and come here to learn, be blessed with knowledge, power, and happiness.

We ask that all who are suffering, hurting, and in pain through their losses or mistakes, be blessed with peace, joy, and forgiveness.

We ask that those two people here who are still battling illnesses be blessed with health and complete recovery.

We ask that each true seeker of the light be bathed in it.

We ask that all financial problems and job worries be taken care of and each person who is in financial need be blessed with all that they need.

I am going to ask you all to close your eyes for about 20 seconds and then open them again, starting now.

I send you all my blessings and consecrate each of you in the name of God, the ancestors, and the Lwa, that you find peace, love, and happiness. Take a deep breath. Hold your hands out in front of you. See the white light coming from your fingertips.

You are blessed and powerful. :-)

[newtospells] Thank you so much Mambo

[Mambo Sam] I wish you all good night, and you may proceed with your own prayer requests for yourself and others. Sister C. will find out when the lovely Simone has the transcript and close the room down. You may all begin now.

[simonegreenewpp] Thank you Ogoun for the temp work, and I look forward to having something permanent soon.

[waitingforastar] Amen

[Montana] Prayers to all of you to keep patient during all of our hard times, especially that darn processing period, to know that we are never alone, may all of us keep strong and keep our faith.

[waitingforastar] Amen

[pamunkeyjo] Thank you Mambo for the patience to teach and help us learn!
